My Humble God

God in the mountains

God in the seas

God in the majestic

Wind and breeze.

God of the forests,

God of the stars

God who is everywhere

Yet close, never far.

God of the universe

Hurtling through the sky

God of the atom

Who hears my cry.

God of my everyday

God of my pain

God who knows my tears,

God who in anguish had lain.

God of the Seraphim

Of every angelic being

Before whom kneels

Every created thing.

God in my weakness

God in my joy

God my protection

Destroys every ploy.

God enthroned

Holy and just

Incomprehensible

In you I trust.

You alone are God

To whom Creation bows

To whose sacrifice

Its redemption it owes.

Unfathomable are you,

Full of love — and meek

Wayward sinners

You relentlessly seek.

Held nothing back

Gave up a royal throne

So lost I

Could come back home.

It was not enough

That You became man

You shed Your blood —

The Sacrificial Lamb.

Creator of everything

Yet my humble God is He

Was born in a manger

And hung on a tree.

As He foretold,

He returned in victory

No fanfare and trumpets (yet)

And just like that, He set me free.

Sent His own Spirit

To counsel and guide

In whose bosom

I take refuge and hide.

As if that wasn’t enough

You, Lord had mercy

And let me know you —

To taste You and see.

How good is my God

Forever by my side

To nourish my soul

Day and night.

As I receive you

In awe I stand

God on my tongue

From the priest’s hand.

Gave His Body and Blood

In humble bread and wine

God with us, in us

In the Eucharist divine.
